Fantasy Novel Completed

Today I finished my latest client’s fantasy novel.

This project started with a first-draft screenplay. There was a strong concept and a solid plotline, but it lacked a consistent lore and the universe was incomplete.

I worked with the client to build out the universe, confirm the rules of the magical elements, and polish the political and social structures that would drive character motivations.

Then I wrote 65,000 words, 313 pages of manuscript, to turn the screenplay into a solid draft of a novel. With a final edit, it could go to press as it stands, but he’s planning on doing a writing pass of his own to add some new ideas he’s since had.

With luck, it’s the first in a trilogy for him. I don’t know if I’ll work on the sequels, but it was great fun working out the lore and helping craft so much of the backstory. He’s definitely got a lot to work with now!

This marks my fifth novel, four for clients and one for myself.

On to the next one!
