So I was just reading the pilot script for 30ROCK.
It’s impossible to do without hearing all the actors’ voices, doing the characters we all know so well.
Also, it’s surprisingly close to what was shot…
And interestingly, if you don’t read it with the cadence that we all know it was ultimately edited with, it doesn’t read great.
Fascinating to be reminded how much relies on performance and cutting to make something work… especially comedy.
BTW, it’s a masterful example of introducing a cast of characters quickly, and establishing who they are with a few lines of dialog.
