Thanks! I hear you. I have a reputation for being sometimes borderline rude as a reader... very tough love. As a contest reader too, I know how hard it is to plow through a lot of scripts in a short period. I've probably read close to a hundred scripts for contests or clients or pleasure and I'm sure I must have missed some stuff. When it's my script, my first reaction is always "what kind of idiot misses my obvious story points" but then I try to reel it in and look at why they might have missed something.

Be careful with the hole bashing -- you need that hand to write! :D

Ha! The inconsistency was frustrating, but I've learned you'll get some of that with any contest. I still love BlueCat for the dual feedback cycles and the opportunity to resubmit with changes. And I like that it's clearly organized into "What works" and "What needs work".

Excellent article, having just received conflicting feedback myself, indeed wondering if one of the readers diligently read the script, I was particularly interested. My response was much the same as yours. To find out if there was really anything in the negative remarks. There was. I have made changes and the script is better for it. The tone of the feedback is worth looking at too. Some have the ability to write encouraging remarks while pointing out flaws in the story. Others are downright rude, which makes it harder for me, at least, to take them onboard, until I've stopped bashing holes in walls.

I think it is pretty obvious how to deal with the problems here. Just don't let BC read any more of your scripts!
